Virgil C. “Bud” Moser found peace on October 5, 2019, at Avantara Milbank, at the age of 94 years.  He was the beloved husband of Norma (Jensen) Moser of Milbank, SD; loving father of Calvin (Linda) Moser of Milbank, SD; Marsha (Gary) Kienholz of Sioux Falls, SD; Gregg Moser (Wendy Pleau) of Shepherd, TX; and Cynthia (Donavon) Loeschke of Big Stone City, SD; proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren; great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren; and dear brother to Gerry Kropuenske of Milbank, SD.  Virgil was preceded in death by his loving parents: Benjamin and Alvina (Krause) Moser; and sisters: Jeanette Ball, Deloris Stover, and Viona Carr.

Virgil was born on January 4, 1925, in Alban Township, Grant County, SD.  He was the son of Benjamin and Alvina (Krause) Moser.  Virgil was a life-long resident of Alban Township.  He attended rural school through the eighth grade and attended agriculture classes in Brookings, SD, at the college.  Virgil was united in marriage with Norma Jensen on June 11, 1950, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD.  Virgil taught in a rural Alban Township school for nearly one year while the teacher was ill.

Virgil and Norma were blessed with four children: Calvin, Marsha, Gregg, and Cynthia.  They raised their family on the family farm.  Virgil farmed, milked cows, and raised chickens and pigs.  His children remember all the orphan animals that were bottle fed, including racoons, rabbits, squirrels, kittens, and even a civet cat!  He loved fishing and hunting – but only after the milking was done!  The family had a horse named Billy who Virgil would harness to a buggy and give endless rides around the farmyard.  Virgil enjoyed woodworking, metalworking, refinishing furniture, and motorcycles.

Virgil and Norma traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.  Together, they collected antique cups and saucers, moustache cups, and Japanese Geisha cups.  They had hundreds!

Virgil was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.
