Virgil Kaufman, age 83, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Ortonville Area Health Services Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home Chapel in Milbank, SD. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Pastor Timothy Koch will officiate the service.
Virgil George Kaufman was born on December 19, 1937, in Sisseton, SD, to George and Viola (Archut) Kaufman. He was baptized on January 9, 1938, and confirmed on May 27, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, MN. Virgil attended school and graduated from Browns Valley High School.
Always a hard worker, Virgil worked as a steel welder in his early life then went to work as a truck driver. He decided to go back to welding before he finally retired. Virgil lived many places; making many friends and taking part in many activities in his community. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.
Virgil was a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Association. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending a lot of time on Lake Mille Lacs. Virgil enjoyed socializing and playing Bingo. He adored his grandchildren and spent as much time as he could with them.
Virgil is survived by his son, Vernon (Debbie) Kaufman of Brandon, MN; daughter, Tamera (Jon) Abraham of Gaylord, MN; grandchildren: Sara Kaufman (friend, Jesse), Amanda Kaufman (fiancée, Dave), Sam Abraham (friend, Rebecca), Michael McCoy, and Matthew Ward; six great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Kaufman; sisters-in-law: Wanda (Don) Bohn and Donna Kaufman; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Sandra Kaufman; brothers: Milton Kaufman and Armin Kaufman; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
