Vera Louise Reich, age 91 of Milbank, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, at St. William’s Care Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church on Saturday. Inurnment will be at the Milbank City Cemetery.
Vera was born on November 22, 1928, to Fred and Myrtle Griffith in Ortonville, Minnesota.
Vera graduated from Ortonville High School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for an oil company in Ortonville and, in later years, worked at United Hardware.
She met the love of her life, Orlyn Reich, and the couple were married March 26, 1949. To this union, three children were born: Roslyn, Vicki, and Matthew. The couple made their home on the family farm in Milbank.
Vera was a busy homemaker ensuring her family was well attended. She spent many a summer helping her kids complete their 4-H projects and never missed a school function or recital that her kids participated in. Vera was a renowned cook and baker. Her greatest joy was entertaining for her family and friends. She had a special knack for making holidays memorable for her family whom she treasured. She always looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a dedicated and loyal member of her church serving as Bible School Teacher, Ladies Group, and Altar Guild. She enjoyed her many years in Extension Club, Pink Ladies Auxiliary, and Red Hats.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Orlyn Reich; parents: Fred and Myrtle Griffith; sisters: Verna Englund and Opal Olson; brothers: Marvin, Arvin, and George Griffith; and three grandchildren; Nathan, Jonathan, and Jason Greenlee.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Roslyn (John) Richardson of Aberdeen, SD; Vicki Reich of Clear Water, MN; Matthew Reich of Willmar, MN; grandchildren: Heidi Greenlee, Joshua Carlstrom, Amanda (Mike) Carlstrom-Timm, and Erin Carlstrom; and great-grandchildren: Racheal and Amanda Barnes; and Blake, Ellery, and Brynn Timm.
