Ross McLaughlin

Ross McLaughlin, age 30, of St. Paul, MN, formerly of Ortonville, MN, passed away unexpectedly on October 4, 2021.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Ross David McLaughlin was born on March 1, 1991, in Ortonville, MN, to David and Patricia (Drew) McLaughlin. He was the youngest of four children. Ross was baptized into the Lutheran Faith on April 14, 1991, and confirmed on April 9, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville.

Growing up in the Ortonville area, he attended elementary and high school in Ortonville. Ross graduated from Ortonville Secondary with the Class of 2009. In 2010, he moved to St. Paul, MN, to attend St. Paul College and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Information Technology. Wanting to further his education, Ross was currently enrolled at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul working toward his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with aspirations to become a chemical dependency counselor.

Ross liked journaling, listening to rap music, and reading; he read over 500 books this year. He was the class clown and had many friends. Ross was a fiercely loyal friend, once someone became his friend, they stayed his friend. He was a basketball fan and could name almost all of the players on his favorite NBA teams. Ross also watched the occasional Vikings football game so he could talk about it later with his dad. He had a tender heart with a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Ross was also famous for his chocolate chip cookies.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents: David and Patti McLaughlin of Ortonville, MN; brother, Daniel (Becca) McLaughlin of West Fargo, ND; sisters: Leah (Wayne) Howe of Fridley, MN; and Colleen (Marc) DelValle of Carrollton, TX; niece, Mara DelValle; uncles: Joe (Diane) Drew of Alexandria, MN; Bob (Charlene) Preble of Bloomington, MN; Jim McLaughlin of Brandon, SD; and John McLaughlin of Sioux Falls, SD; aunt, Doris (Mike) Fossen of Minneapolis, MN; along with many cousins and friends.

Ross was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Charles and Dorothy McLaughlin; and maternal grandparents: Donald and Joanne Drew.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials go toward sports equipment, games, puzzles, or books to a chemical dependency treatment facility of your choice.
