Rick Pies

Rick Pies, age 58, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on March 24, 2022.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Ricky Lee Pies was born on July 5, 1963, in Milbank, SD, to Clarence and Margaret (Boruta) Pies. He grew up in Milbank and attended Milbank schools. Rick’s first job was with McGowan Lumber Company in Milbank; he also worked for Wilbur’s Standard Station. He enjoyed working on vehicles, and eventually built his own monster truck.

Rick discovered the vocation of beekeeping at an early age. His passion became beekeeping, and it led him to become a migratory beekeeper, living in Georgia, and Florida. It was in Florida that Ricky met the love of his life, Kathy Seymour.

Rick and Kathy eventually moved back to the Big Stone City area.  Rick worked construction jobs in the area until his health no longer permitted.

Rick is survived by his partner, Kathy Seymour of Ortonville, MN; daughter, Kendra (Billy Larragoite) Pies of Missoula, MT; step-daughter, Shellia St. George of Watertown, SD; mother, Margaret Lindberg of Milbank, SD; father, Clarence (Ruth) Pies of Lead, SD; sisters and brothers: Debbie (Don) Stengel of Aberdeen, SD; Holly (Jason) Johnston of Lead, SD; Danny Pies of LaBolt, SD; Dale Lindberg of Sioux Falls, SD; Doug Lindberg of Big Stone City, SD; Dennis (Hope) Lindberg of Strandburg, SD; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; brothers: David Lindberg and Donny Lindberg; and sister, Machelle Rumpca.
