Merlyn Ebsen

Merlyn Ebsen, age 69, of Graceville, MN, formerly of Revillo, SD, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Avantara Milbank Nursing Home.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Rev. Hugh Brewer will officiate the memorial service and a luncheon will follow at the Milbank Community Center.

Merlyn Lyle Ebsen was born on October 11, 1952, in Milbank, SD, to Melvin and Adeline (Conraads) Ebsen. He grew up on the family farm north of Revillo, SD, and attended school and graduated from Grant Deuel High School with the Class of 1970.

Following graduation, Merlyn continued to farm with his dad and for himself. He farmed the land and had many dairy cattle. In the 1980’s, Merlyn and his family started Triple E Enterprises which was a milk hauling company. They went to all the dairy farms to collect the milk and take it to the processing factories. Merlyn also did some carpentry for a short time.

Merlyn was active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo along with many of his family members. He enjoyed watching car racing and rodeo activities. Merlyn was a great fisherman and an avid woodworker. In his younger years, he loved to sing and play his guitar. Merlyn had a soft heart for animals and an appreciation for animals of all kinds.

When Merlyn married Colleen Reynolds on March 31, 2001, their families combined, and he absolutely loved all the kids and grandkids. He adored each and every one of them.

Left to remember Merlyn are his wife, Colleen of Graceville, MN; sons: Ryan Ebsen of St. Paul Park, MN; Chad (Erin) Ebsen of Brookings, SD; and Cory (Betty) Ebsen of St. Paul Park, MN; daughter, Desiree Ebsen (Josh Fergen) of Duluth, MN; step-sons: Blaine (Raechel) Reynolds of Washington D.C.; and Colby (Melissa) Reynolds of Tea, SD; step-daughters: Kaila Ehrenberg of Revillo, SD; and Danielle Reynolds of Lennox, SD; 10 grandchildren: Alexis, Zoey, Remi, Zack, Willow, Cora, Miles, Jameson, Bentley, and Morgan; brothers: Loren (Marsha) Ebsen of Greeley, CO; Gary (Chris) Ebsen of Milbank, SD; and Byron (Joanne) Ebsen of Milbank, SD; sisters: Brenda Hyronimus of Worthing, SD; and Debra (Randy) Jibbens of Milbank, SD; brothers-in-law: Allan (Joyce) Reynolds of Graceville, MN; and Mark Reynolds of Graceville, MN; Godchildren: Jeremy Ebsen and Michael Knight; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Adeline Ebsen; father, Melvin Ebsen; step-mother, Elaine Ebsen; parents-in-law, Jim and Mary Lou Reynolds; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Reynolds.
