Mary Lee Barbara (Trevett) Trapp was born on July 19, 1958, in Milbank, SD, to Richard and Barbara (Mosey) Trevett. She grew up in Stockholm, SD, until the family moved to a home just outside of Milbank in 1964. Mary Lee graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 1976.

Throughout Mary Lee's life, she was a hard worker. She got started very young as her mother and father owned and operated Trevett's Café. Mary Lee got to be in charge of peeling potatoes, making the potato salad, and helping to start the other homemade dishes. After high school, she went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in business at Augustana University with a minor in Art. She eventually obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing through the accelerated nursing program at Creighton University. Mary Lee worked as a Registered Nurse in Milbank in her earlier years then later on, filled in as the school nurse and for the Grant-Roberts Ambulance.

On July 16, 1988, Mary Lee married the boy she always sat behind in class, Michael Trapp. The two started dating after graduation and while she was in college. In 1999, Mary Lee and Michael welcomed their daughter, Mallory.

Mary Lee was a kindhearted and loving soul and never had a bad word to say about anybody. She was well liked by so many people, and she had a great deal of friends. Mary Lee was artistic and used her talent in many different places: she painted the windows of the café, planned many parties including theme parties, and had an eye for photography. She loved being outside especially when Spring came and the weather was nice enough for her to be outside with her flowers, in her garden, or out mowing the lawn. Mary Lee loved to watch the children in her family play in sporting events and spending time with her family. She most enjoyed the time she got to spend at the family cabin and the pontoon rides on the lake. Mary Lee also started a tradition that was sacred to her and that was coffee hour! It started as coffee with her mother every day and turned into a time to gather with her family and friends every day around 10:00 a.m.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Trapp of Milbank, SD; her daughter, Mallory Trapp (fiancé, Jordan Lucht) of Brookings, SD; brothers: Mark Trevett (Jill Adams) of Sioux Falls, SD; Jim (Steph) Trevett of Corona, SD; Steven Trevett of Wichita, KS; Paul (Deb) Trevett of Milbank, SD; and John (Jeannie) Trevett of Milbank, SD; sister-in-law, Karla (Curt) Pudwill of Rapid City, SD; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Barbara Trevett; her parents-in-law: Vernon and Gladys Trapp; and brothers-in-law: Dan Trapp and Bill Trapp.
