Mary Cameron, age 88, of Wilmot, SD, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Wilmot Care Center.

Mary (Miller) Cameron was born on June 6, 1933, at her home in Lee Township of Roberts County, SD, to John and Martha (Dikstahl) Miller. She grew up in the Wilmot area and graduated from Wilmot High School with the Class of 1951.

On September 2, 1952, Mary was united in marriage with Allan Cameron. Together they made their home in the Wilmot area. Mary and Allan had five children in eight years: Teri, Clay, Ryan, Wendy, and Kip. Four of them were born and raised before the family had running water!

Always busy with her household, Mary was a hard worker. She raised her children and helped Allan on the farm with farm work and chores. Mary also worked at Foss Café, at the Wilmot Care Center, and ran the Cameron Store on Big Stone Lake which was a community gathering place where people played cards and enjoyed each other's company. She was a gifted baker and baked goods for the café and also baked for other people for a "free will" offering. Mary made a cookbook for each of her grandchildren so they could cherish and use her favorite recipes.

Mary was a faithful member of the Wilmot Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed feeding people during poker runs and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish Mary's memory are her husband of 69 years, Allan of Wilmot, SD; five children: Teri Trumble of Sioux Center, IA; Clay (Nadine) Cameron of Wilmot, SD; Ryan (Val) Cameron of Milbank, SD; Wendy (Alan) Rowland of Browns Valley, MN; and Kip (Tina) Cameron of Wilmot, SD; along with 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Martha Miller; sisters: Minnie (Howard) Gerber, and Ann (Myron "Bud") Amman; and brothers: George Miller, Arie "Ike" (Vera "Peg") Miller, Charles (Gladys) Miller, and Franklin Miller.
