Marlys Lingwall

Marlys M. Lingwall, age 80, died on June 4, 2019, at Brookings Health System Hospital in Brookings, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot, SD. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor James Wilshusen will officiate, and burial will be at Garfield Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be: Charles Schamber, Gary Mueller, Brad Buttke, Glen Weeden, Tom Lingwall, and Darold Lingwall. Honorary bearers will be the residents and staff of ADVANCE.

Marlys M. Lingwall was born on October 11, 1938, in Garrison, MN. She was the daughter of Elmer and Verna (Hecht) Lingwall. In 1940, the family moved to Wilmot, SD. She grew up there with her family. Marlys moved to Redfield State School and Hospital in Redfield, SD, in 1977. She learned a lot of life skills while she resided there. Later, she moved to ADVANCE in Brookings, SD, where she resided until she passed away on June 4, 2019.

Marlys’s family is grateful to the friends and staff at ADVANCE in Brookings, SD, who were like family to her.

Marlys is survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Richard (Ardell) Lingwall of Wilmot, SD; nephew, Tim Lingwall of Milbank, SD; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Verna; and twin brother, Merle, in 1952.
