Marla Myklegard, age 81, of Corona, SD passed away on July 4, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Kent Groethe will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church Friday morning, one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Marla Joy Nerland Myklegard was born on December 31, 1939, in rural Pierpont, SD, to Bernt and Agnes (Sandvig) Nerland. She graduated from Langford High School in 1957. She worked at RE Huffman in Aberdeen, SD. She married Chuck Myklegard on November 25, 1961. They moved to Milbank in August of 1962 and she worked as a full time mother raising her children.
After her kids were raised, Marla worked as a Parish Secretary at American Lutheran Church, and part-time for Valley Office Products.
She served the Lord faithfully volunteering at her churches: American Lutheran and Living Word; through Circle bible studies, quilting, and teaching Sunday School.
Marla is survived by her husband of 59 years, Chuck Myklegard; she was a devoted mother to Brett Myklegard of Britton, SD; Kristin Retzlaff (husband Rory) of Kirkland, WA; and Jason (wife Avria) Myklegard of Tacoma, WA. Marla has eight grandchildren: Seth, Brady and Sydney Retzlaff, Mae, Greta and Ava Myklegard, Travis Davidson and Tate Davidson. She also has five great grandchildren: Max and Mya Davidson, BoDell, Dashel and Jiana Davidson.
