Luella Mack

Jesus came and took Luella A. Mack home on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Luella was a 96-year-old, longtime resident of Ortonville.

A funeral service for Luella Mack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Luella Agnes Mack was born on July 20, 1925, in Synnes Township, Stevens County, MN, to Fredrich and Alvina (Knopp) Baumgartner. As a young girl, she attended school in Correll and Ortonville. Luella married Stanley Mack on June 4, 1945, in Ortonville, MN. They made their home in Ortonville, eventually building a home on Big Stone Lake in the early 1950’s. She worked for Coast-to-Coast and Gambles Hardware stores in Ortonville and was the activities coordinator for Northridge nursing home for many years.

Luella was a member of Synnes Lutheran Church near Alberta, MN, until she moved to Ortonville, where she has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. At Trinity Lutheran, Luella was a member of the Women’s’ Circle, and taught Sunday School for many years. She and Stan were members of the early Ortonville area snowmobiling club, and she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In their younger years, they enjoyed camping with their young daughters, LaRae and Florene.

Luella was a talented seamstress. She especially loved flower gardening in the summer and tending her houseplants all year round.

Luella Mack is survived by her daughters: LaRae Schaffer of Lakeville, MN; and Florene (LeRoy) Westphal of Backus, MN; grandchildren: Darin (Melissa) Schaffer, Tami (Jay Tromblo) Stellick, Kerri Kopecky, Steffanie (Kelly Robinson) Call, Danielle Draeger, and Lucas Draeger; 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan in 2004; granddaughter, Heidi Schaffer; sisters: Evelyn Mack and Marcella Holt; and brother, Edward Baumgartner.
