LeRoy Bakken, age 64, of Mound, MN, died on March 11, 2020, at his home.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery near Hazel, SD.
LeRoy Gene Bakken was born on October 19, 1955, in Willow Lake, SD, to Arthur and Phyllis (Christiansen) Bakken. He attended school and graduated from Henry High School. For a short time, LeRoy worked in Watertown, SD, before he decided to live in the metropolitan area of Minnesota.
Working in sheet rock, construction, and building, LeRoy held an occupation in carpentry. He helped with larger projects such as the Mall of America when he first moved to The Cities. LeRoy later took smaller jobs and worked for independent contractors.
He lived in the metropolitan suburbs since he was very young soon after he finished high school. LeRoy enjoyed going to the casino and trying his luck at “Texas Hold‘em” which he once won a game for a large amount of money. He enjoyed golfing and taking fishing trips to northern Minnesota and Canada with his friends. LeRoy was very close with his three nephews. They enjoyed going to visit their Uncle LeRoy where they could go fishing, ride jet ski, and go snowmobiling.
LeRoy is survived by his sister, Connie Norvell of Clark, SD; brother, Larry Bakken of Clark, SD; nephews: Jamie Norvell of Watertown, TX; Dwayne (Shawna) Norvell of Corpus Christi, TX; and Daniel Norvell of Corpus Christi, TX; two nieces; aunt, Clara Ness of Spearfish, SD; along with many cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Jim Jordan; sister, Diane Womack, and sister-in-law, Marsha Bakken.
