John Christensen

John Christensen, age 72, of Milbank, SD, formerly of Lidgerwood, ND, died on May 20, 2019, at Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center in Milbank.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

John Louis Christensen was born on November 20, 1946, in Rutland, ND, to Fred and Laura (Delaney) Christensen. John attended school in Rutland. He served in the US Army from 1965 – 1967. He married Terry Cink on February 28, 1969, in Valley City, ND. Three children were born to this union. They were later divorced but remained friends until his death.

John worked in the construction business his entire life. He owned Christensen Construction in Milbank and worked for Mahrer Gravel in Rutland. John lived in Lidgerwood, ND, prior to moving to Milbank.

John was a member of the Rutland Volunteer Fire Department. He liked to fish, and hunt, and he enjoyed golf. John appreciated a good cocktail and was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers. John was feisty until the day he died.

John was a member of Rutland Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the Nazarene Church in Ray, ND.

John is survived by his daughters: Tonya (Doug) Rodengen of Watertown, SD; and Trina Augustus of Andover, MN; son, James (Kellie) Christensen of Watertown, SD; sisters: Nancy (Mike) Worthington of California; and Etta Lee of Colorado; brothers: Larry (Carolyn) Christensen of North Dakota; Fred Christensen of North Dakota; Steven (Helen) Christensen of North Dakota; and Leo (Gay) Christensen of Nebraska; former wife, Terry Christensen of Milbank; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Carroll, Donald, and Charles.
