Joanne Valentine, age 70, of Milbank, died on December 4, 2020, at Milbank Area Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Joanne Lumblo was born in Ripon, WI, on November 2, 1950, to Fred and Beatrice (Shure) Lumblo. She grew up and attended school in Ripon, and in Illinois. Joanne graduated from James Madison High School in Milwaukee, WI. She married David Valentine on October 7, 1972. Joanne and David served parishes and schools in Florida, Tennessee, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and South Dakota. They moved to Milbank in 2008.

Joanne was a faithful Pastor’s wife, serving many roles in the church, including: teacher, church secretary, and day care provider. She loved flowers and flower gardening. She created intricate counted cross-stich projects which she gifted to friends and family. She was especially talented in assembling creative and informative bulletin boards at churches she served, at school, and even at the nursing home. Joanne’s favorite color was yellow.

Joanne is survived by her grateful husband of 48 years, David, of Milbank; daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Carlson, of Lake Norden, SD; grandchildren: Gregory (Amanda Woodruff) Carlson; Halee (Jacob Torres) Carlson; great-grandson, Dante Carlson; sister, Pat (Duwayne) Sommerfeld of Montello, WI; brother, Gary Lumblo, of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Beatrice Lumblo; step-parents: Norma and Lavern Ambrosich; and her grand-parents.
