Jackie Bowers

Jackie Bowers, age 79, formerly of rural Twin Brooks, SD, passed away on April 13, 2020, at Avantara – Milbank.

Private family services will be held and burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Jacqueline Merridel (Jesser) Bowers was born on March 13, 1941, in Fargo, ND.   She was taken from the North Dakota State Children’s Home in Fargo, ND, on August 12, 1942, and welcomed into the family of Harold and Christina (Brennise) Jesser.  Her family lived in Washburn, ND until 1950 when they moved to Ortonville, MN.  Jackie attended grade school in Washburn and graduated from Ortonville High School.  She continued her education at Minneapolis Business College for one year.  Jackie worked in Minneapolis until 1963.  She was united in marriage with Gerald Bowers on September 28, 1963, in Ortonville, MN.

Jackie was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. She and Jerry farmed together in rural Twin Brooks, SD.  After their children were grown, Jackie worked for Beverly Healthcare and Park Place Assisted Living Center from 1996 until 2003.  She was a faithful member of Valley Baptist Church in Milbank.  She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and helped many people plan weddings and receptions that were held at the church.

Left to cherish Jackie’s memory are three children: Gary Bowers; Ginger Seehafer of rural Corona, SD; and Gail Bowers of Milbank, SD; five grandchildren: Brent, Taylor, Caleb, Haeley, and Sawyer Seehafer; one brother, Cornell Jesser of St. Paul, MN.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Christina; and her husband, Gerald.
