Dean Skinner, age 87, of Big Stone City formerly of Revillo, SD, who died on April 16, 2022, at Avantara - Milbank Nursing Home.

A private burial will be held in Lafayette, Colorado.

Dean Arthur Skinner was born on July 24, 1934, in Revillo, SD, to Arthur and Mabel (Klapprodt) Skinner. He grew up in Revillo, SD, graduating from Revillo High School in 1952. After graduation, Dean joined the Army where he served for four years.

In 1959, Dean married Darla Mehle in Altamont, SD. Together they had three daughters: Diane, Denise, and Doreen. They resided in Sioux Falls for five years where Dean worked at John Morrell. In 1966, they moved to Lafayette, CO, where Dean owned and operated Dean's Wrecker Service for 15 years. Dean sold the wrecking business and worked as a truck driver for Werner Enterprises for 20 years and then as a contract mail route driver in Utah for the following 15 years.

Dean loved to tinker on old cars and engines.

Dean is survived by his three daughters: Diane (Martin) Brandenburger of Revillo, SD; Denise Ellington of Lafayette, CO; and Doreen (Glen) Floyd of Gillette, WY; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Skinner of Huntsville, AL; sister, Helen Skinner of Big Stone City, SD; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Muzik; son-in-law, J.D. Ellington; grandson, Adam Ellington; niece, Jeannie Colston; and nephews: Jeffrey Skinner and Ricky Heuer.
