Carol Antoinette (Bauer) Rose was born September 20, 1934, to Anton and Laura (Schmitz) Bauer in Tara Township, Traverse County, MN. Carol attended high School at St. Mary’s Academy in Graceville, MN. She graduated with honors and was named Valedictorian of the Class of 1952. She spent her freshman year of college attending St. Benedicts in St. Joseph, MN, and also attended Saint Catherine's University in St. Paul. Carol entered the convent and served as a Sister of Saint Joseph (Sister Mary Laurel) and as a schoolteacher for 15 years. She enjoyed working at the Red Cross and Cedar-Riverside in the years following her time in the convent.

In 1971, Carol was united in marriage to James Church. To this union, a daughter, Laura was born in 1973.

Always a Democrat, Carol worked as a volunteer on the Mondale-Ferraro campaign in 1984. She was an author of a series of books for young readers: six biographies of famous women published by Greenhaven Press. She later worked to assist Geneticist Robert Gorlin, serving as copy editor for his medical textbooks. Carol worked at the University of Minnesota for 20 years where she was a leader in the AFSCME union.

It was in the year of 1996 that Carol married the love of her life, Glenn Rose. He was a florist and robotics engineer. They were perfectly matched. Each had a kindness and a generous spirit and together they served their families and community for many years. They lived in Roseville, MN, until his death in Fall of 2009. A few years later, Carol returned to her hometown of Graceville in March 2012.

Carol will forever be remembered for her cheerful disposition, kind nature, and her beautiful smile that she so generously shared with everyone she met.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Laura Church of Minneapolis, MN; sisters: Laurie Wiegman of Graceville, MN; and Mary Chalmers of Willmar, MN; brother, Paul Bauer and his wife Linda of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Bauer and Rita Bauer of Graceville, MN; many nieces and nephews; and members of the Glenn Rose family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Rose; parents: Tony Bauer, Laura Bauer, and Hazel Peyton Bauer; brothers: Jim (Mary) Bauer, Rollie Bauer, and Tom Bauer.
