Carol Kockx, age 57, of Watertown, SD, passed away on February 8, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Mundwiler Funeral Home announces the death of 57-year-old  Carol Kockx, of Watertown, SD, who passed away on February 8, 2021.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, at the Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church in Big Stone City. Burial will be at St. Charles’ Catholic Cemetery in Big Stone City.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming will be viewable at www.mundwilerfuneralhome.net .

Carol Ann Kockx was born on February 19, 1963, in Ortonville, MN, to Bernard and Lucille (Rau) Kockx. She grew up in Ortonville, and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1981. She graduated from Willmar Vo-Tech in 1983. Carol worked with her parents at the Theatre Seasons Café in Ortonville from 1984-1994. While working at the Too Mad Café, she also worked as a dispatcher for the Ortonville Police Department and the Big Stone County Sheriff's Department from 1995-2005. Since 2005, Carol has worked as a 911 Regional Dispatch operator in Watertown.

Carol was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Police Officers Union. She enjoyed helping the Watertown Police Department with Camp Chance. Carol loved animals of all kinds, especially her kitties:  Peanut and Sophie Jo. She enjoyed the casino, '80s heavy metal music, and loved her travels to Mexico, California, and Tennessee.

Carol is survived by her mother, Lucille of Clear Lake, SD; sister Nancy (Scott) Greene of Clear Lake; sister Sara Kockx of Clinton, MN; niece Brittany Greene; nephew Jacob Greene; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Bernie Kockx; maternal grandparents: Walter and Pauline Rau; paternal grandparents: Phillip and Ethel Kockx.
