Ann Ammann, age 99, formerly of Wilmot, SD, passed away on October 24, 2020, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot, SD. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn and Pastor Kristy Liebe will officiate, and burial will be at Wilmot City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. Annie (Miller) Ammann was born on December 14, 1920, to John and Martha (Dikstaal) Miller in Garfield Township of Roberts County, SD. She grew up and lived in the Wilmot area all her life. Ann attended school at Lee Township Country School #2 in Roberts County.
On February 14, 1941, Ann was united in marriage with Myron Ammann in Ortonville, MN. To this union, three children were born: Dennis, Cheri, and Kevin. Ann lived and worked on the farm with her husband, kept the household, and raised their three children. When her children were old enough to attend school, Ann went to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked for 11 years in the nursing home setting, 14 years at the Milbank Hospital, and after retirement, she worked with home health in the Wilmot community.
Ann was an active member of Zion Community Church in Wilmot. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Anyone who visited got spoiled with tea and treats. No one ever left Ann’s house hungry or without something she made. Ann loved gardening, bird watching, doing crafts, and china painting.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Jerry) Mielitz of Milbank, SD; son, Kevin (Dorene) Ammann of Corona, SD; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Cameron; and daughter-in-law, Blanche Ammann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myron; son, Dennis; daughter, Cassidy Rose in infancy; great-grandson, Jesse Ammann; four brothers: George, Arie, Charles, and Frank; and sister, Minnie.
