Agnes Lucille Paine was born on February 9, 1933, in Ortonville, MN.  She was the daughter of Ethan and Rachel (Scherer) Paine.  Agnes graduated from Ortonville High School with the Class of 1951, and attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD.  She received her teacher’s certificate and taught country school for two years.

Agnes was united in marriage with Lloyd Grabow Jr. on July 29, 1953, in Twin Brooks, SD.  They were blessed with 60 years of marriage and five children: Ginger, Jeff, Denise, Greg, and Jason “Cubby”. Lloyd passed away on January 25, 2014.

Agnes was a homemaker and worked at Liebe Drug Store in Wilmot, SD and in Milbank, SD.  She owned the Way To Go Dress and Bridal Shop in Milbank.  She was a 4-H Leader for five years and a member of the Big Stone American Legion Auxiliary. Agnes enjoyed reading, sewing, art, and home decorating.  She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Australia, Puerto Rico, and Canada. She and Lloyd enjoyed sight-seeing in the United States with her brother, Leonard and his wife.

After retiring and moving off the farm and into Milbank, Agnes enjoyed volunteering at the Community Thrift Store, playing Bridge, being a Red Hat Lady, and morning coffee at Hardees.  Her faith was very important to her.  She was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, helped with the Children’s Minute, and was in charge of the Cradle Roll for several years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ginger (David) Reiners of Sioux Falls, SD; Jeff (Lynae) Grabow of South Shore, SD; Denise (Dan) Scoblic of Big Stone City, SD; Greg (Wendy) Grabow of Twin Brooks, SD; and Jason “Cubby” Grabow of Milbank, SD; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Leonard (Karen) Paine of Tulsa, OK; Richard (Alice) Paine of Woodinville, WA; and Robert (Marian) Paine of Killeen, TX.  Agnes was preceded in death by her parents: Ethan and Rachel; husband, Lloyd; brother, Donald Paine; and two infant grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be given to Central United Methodist Church in Milbank, SD, or First United Methodist Church in Ortonville, MN.
