Wayne Randall, age 79, of Appleton, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Appleton Area Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday. Father Brian Eckrich will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Beardsley, MN.

Wayne Alwyn Randall was born on June 6, 1944, in Graceville, MN, to Everett, Sr. and Marian (Ziemer) Randall. He attended school in Browns Valley, MN, and graduated from Browns Valley High School with the Class of 1962. Following graduation, Wayne attended Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

In 1966, Wayne was inducted into the United States Army and he served his country during the Vietnam War. He earned a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and an Expert Marksmanship Award. Wayne was honorably discharged on June 21, 1972.

On August 29, 1970, Wayne was united in marriage with Sharon Anderson at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley. Together, they were blessed with their daughter, Janine.

Wayne's journey was one filled with diverse experiences and contributions. From delivering wholesale flowers to local florists to providing job services as a representative in the government sector, his dedication to serving others was clear. He worked diligently at various locations in Browns Valley, MN, Fargo, ND, Sisseton, SD, Madison, SD, and Milbank, SD. After retirement, Wayne and Sharon lived in Wilmot, SD, and eventually settled in Appleton, MN.

His passion for nature and community was evident through his involvement with the American Legion in Browns Valley. Wayne took pride in maintaining his yard and doing yard work, showcasing his commitment to his surroundings. In his younger years, he loved water skiing which highlighted his adventurous spirit.

Left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his wife, Sharon of Appleton, MN; his daughter, Janine (Bill) Fonder of Milbank, SD; nine grandchildren: Thomas (Ashley) Fonder, Brian (Lexy) Fonder, Joshua (Beth) Fonder, Andrea (Wyatt) Artz, Erika Fonder (fiancé, Reed Prasnicki), Marianna Fonder, Nathan Fonder, Kara Fonder, and Gianna Fonder; seven great-grandchildren: Jacquelin, Laurel, Corbin, Chandler, Ezrianna, Roselyn, and Adeline; brother, Everett (Lodema) Randall, Jr. of Redfield, SD; and sister-in-law, Marlys Randall of Browns Valley, MN.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Bill Randall and Cletus Randall; and step sisters: Helen Coleman and Eileen Apo.

Memorials in Wayne’s name are preferred to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank.
