Funeral services for Gundy Tilbury will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at United Church of Christ in Marietta. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, July 31, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Reverend Barbara McKewin will officiate and Shelly Schafer will be the organist. Honorary Urnbearers will be all of Gundy's grandchildren.

Warren Orville "Gundy" Tilbury was born on August 27, 1928, in Augusta Township, Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota to Orville Cleon and Augusta Anna (Wilking) Tilbury. He was baptized and confirmed in the United Church of Christ in Marietta, Minnesota where he was a lifelong member. Gundy grew up in rural Marietta and attended Marietta Public Schools.

On February 27, 1949, Gundy and Wanda Ruth Olson were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marietta. To this union six children were born. Gundy and Ruth lived in rural Revillo for six years and then moved to their farm two miles outside of Marietta. Gundy spent his entire life farming in the Revillo and Marietta area.

Gundy raised, traded, and raced horses. He was a member of the Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association, the Quarter Horse Association, and the Appaloosa Horse Club. Gundy enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin in northern Minnesota and especially cherished the moments he was with his family.

Gundy died on July 27, 2013, at the Madison Lutheran Home in Madison, MN, having reached the age of 84.

Left with his loving memory are his wife, Ruth, of Marietta; his children: Sonjia (Doug) Lien, Cleon (Arlene) Tilbury, Colin (Karen) Tilbury, and Calvin (Kathy) Tilbury, all of the Marietta, MN area; Sandi (Matt) Richards of Pine Island, MN; and Chad (Tami) Tilbury of Madison, MN; 14 grandchildren: Audra, Angie, Shelly, Vicki, Julie, Wayne, Darin, Erick, Mandy, Trevor, Krystal, Jenny, Josie, and Kelli; 20 great grandchildren; and his sister, Carol (Leonard) Wittnebel of Madison, MN.

Gundy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce.
