Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. A spring burial will be held at Garfield Lutheran Cemetery in Roberts County.

Victor Allen Reil was born on November 28, 1938, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Henry and Frieda (Minder) Reil. Victor grew up on the family farm in Roberts County. He attended rural school in Garfield Township. He and his brother, Loren, quit school following a back injury to their father. Together, they operated the family farm for years.

Victor served in the United States Army and returned to South Dakota and the family farm following his honorable discharge.  He was united in marriage with Linda Dummann on June 10, 1988. From this union, he was blessed with two daughters, Nikki and Noelle. Victor farmed, on the family farm, until his unexpected death.

Victor lived his life with the motto, “faith and farming.” He was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, and his faith was extremely important to him. A life-long career of farming was his passion. In his spare time, Victor loved spending time with his grandchildren. He shared his “sweet-tooth” with them by always having ice cream. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering around the farm with them. He was always available to pick them up and entertain them until their parents arrived. Victor was also fascinated by all the wind turbines that have been built on the farmland. He always enjoyed looking at them on drives.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Nikki (Greg) German of Browns Valley, MN; and Noelle (Lee) Koehler of Rosholt, SD; six grandchildren: Monique German (and fiancé, Aaron Sterling), Samantha German, Hudson German, Weston German, Jameson Koehler, and Palmer Koehler; one sister, Betty Reyelts of Wilmot, SD; and one brother, Larry (Judy) Reil of Wilmot, SD. Victor was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Frieda; and one brother, Loren Reil.
