Twyla Tengvall was born on November 12, 1924, in Benson, Minnesota to Carl and Alma (Simonstad) Tengvall. She grew up in Benson attending school there and graduating in 1942. On December 12, 1953 Twyla and Murl Hinneberg were united in marriage. They moved to rural Odessa after getting married and remained there until 1966 when they moved to Ortonville. To this union three children were born: Beth, Max and Trudy.

Twyla's life long career was with NW Bell Telephone Company where she retired in 1981 with 32 years of service. Twyla was a member of First English Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Day of Love, Circle Bible study, and Altar Guild for many years. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and played an active role in the ladies group the "Crafty Critters" and "Red Hatters." She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Western Plains Club and in 1987 Twyla received the President's Award from the Telephone Pioneers for her idea of the Hug-A-Bear.

Twyla was a great baker of many fine foods and always a few calories! She was famous for her "Monkey Bread" and "Swedish Toast" that she joyfully shared with her friends, neighbors and family. When she wasn't baking she was most likely sewing teddy bears, hobby horses or quilts. Twyla created many furry friends through her sewing projects and delighted many children. In her lifetime, her hobby horse creations numbered well over a 1, 000 and she was so proud of each of her unique creations! Most importantly, however, was the time Twyla spent with her family. She was a devoted wife and caregiver, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

Twyla passed away on Saturday, March 26th, 2016, at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, having reached the age of 91.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Beth Hinneberg of Plymouth, MN, Max (Michele) Hinneberg of Aurora, CO, and Trudy (Bill) Broman of Wayzata, MN; one very special granddaughter, Alison Broman of Wayzata; one brother, Alvin "Bud" (Marilyn) Tengvall of New Brighton, MN; sister-in-law, Marlys Tengvall of Hopkins, MN; and nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

Twyla is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Alma Tengvall; her husband, Murl Hinneberg; her brother, Francis Tengvall; her sister, Lorna Burns, and nephew Mike Burns.

Memorials preferred to First English Lutheran Church "Day of Love" or Altar Guild or Ortonville Area Health Services.
