Thomas Heck

Funeral Services for Thomas J. Heck, age 85, of Graceville, will be on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. Father David Breu will be officiating. Visitation will be at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville Thursday evening, July 12, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Beardsley.

Thomas John Heck was born on November 6, 1926 to John and Anna (Ehrnst) Heck on the family farm in Toqua Township, rural Barry, MN. Tom was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley and confirmed at St. Barnabus in Barry, MN. He attended School #59 in Barry, MN through the 8th grade.

Tom grew up on the family farm, two miles west of Barry, MN. He farmed with his brother Ed, growing small grain and raising livestock and hogs. They retired in 1995. Tom lived on the farmstead until July 2010, at which time he moved to Grace Home in Graceville.

Tom enjoyed playing cards, fixing machinery, hunting pocket gophers, driving around the country side checking crops and then ending up at Whoopy's Bar for a beer! He belonged to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, Knights of Columbus, Farmers Union, and he served on the Toqua Township Board.

Tom is lovingly remembered by his brothers: Ed, of Graceville, and Richard, of Browns Valley; his sister-in-law Marietta Heck of Browns Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Joe, Bart, John, and Bernard; and his sister, Theresa DiBrito.
