Terry Thaden Sr

Terry Thaden Sr. formerly of Marvin, SD died December 21, 2013, in Aberdeen, SD.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Milbank, SD.

Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Friday evening, the 27th, from 5 – 7 p.m.

Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate and burial will be held at Oceola #1 Cemetery in Marvin, SD.

Terry L. Thaden Sr. was born December 7, 1955, to Arnold and Wanda (Thorpe) Thaden. Growing up on a farm outside of Marvin, Terry attended country school and later transitioned to Summit where he graduated in 1974.

After graduation Terry worked for local farmers and eventually got on with the Peter J. Schweitzer division combining flax straw in North Dakota for a number of years.

He later was employed by Grant Count y and worked until moving to Aberdeen in 1984. While living in Aberdeen Terry was employed at Gage Brothers Concrete, South Dakota School for the Blind, and Dietrich Bus Service.

Terry married Jane Bergeson in 1977, having two children, Terry Jr. and Melissa.

In high school, Terry loved football and was one of the largest football players in South Dakota when he graduated. Terry had a passion for rodeo never missing a Crystal Springs or Whetstone Valley Rodeo for years. After moving to Aberdeen he transitioned his focus to dirt track racing. It wasn't a surprise to see him in Aberdeen, Huron, and Watertown all in the same week. He eventually developed a passion for motorcycles that took him on organized rides all over north central South Dakota.

Left with his loving memory are his daughter, Melissa (Galeyn) Thaden of Groton, SD; son, Terry (Brandi) Thaden of Gretna, NE; brother, Stacy (Shirley) Thaden of Marvin, SD; and 5 grandchildren.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents: Arnold and Wanda Thaden, brother, Marty Thaden; and sister, Betty Lou (Leon) Gapp.
