Susan (Thompson) Weber, age 84, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Wellshire Park Place in Milbank.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home with a prayer vigil and Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Fr. Ken Lulf will celebrate the Mass, and burial will take place at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Milbank.
Susan Marie (Thompson) Weber was born at home in Grant County, SD, on November 4, 1940, to Lester and Henrietta Josephine “Nellie” (Gannon) Thompson. She graduated from Milbank High School.
In 1957, Susan met Bill Weber at a church youth group. Two years later, they were married on October 24, 1959, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank, SD. They made their home in Milbank and to this union, nine children were born. Bill and Susan were married for 55 years when Bill passed away in 2014.
Susan enjoyed being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She transitioned to working as a clerk at Milbank Mutual Insurance Company. After retiring, Bill and Susan enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, AZ, for 9 years.
Susan was an avid reader and loved playing cards and games with her family and friends. She liked puzzles and was a wonderful cook. Susan also enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets, slippers, and potholders which are treasured by her children and grandchildren.
Cherishing Susan’s memory are her children: Mike (Kathy) Weber of Milbank, SD; Mark Weber of Omaha, NE; Rose (Jim) Ragatz of Aberdeen, SD; Dale Weber of Sioux Falls, SD; Jim (Jeanine) Weber of Omaha, NE; Theresa LaMotte of Omaha, NE; and Keith (Angie) Weber of Milbank, SD; daughter-in-law, Tammy Weber of Gretna, NE; 15 grandchildren: Dan (Lindsay), John M. (Jessie), John C. (Shannan), Thomas (Diana), Jacob (Lex), Zachary (Sierra), Abby, Hannah, Sarah, Karson, Casey, Isaiah, Nick, Sabrina, and Garrett; four great-grandchildren: Peyton, Hayden, Calvin, and Jane; siblings: David (Marilyn) Thompson of Milbank, SD; Jack Thompson of North Carolina; and Marcia (Patrick) Kane of Texas; sisters-in-law: Connie Thompson of Iowa; and Mary Lou Dressler of Washington; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her loving husband; her sons: John and Kevin; her parents; her siblings: Shirley Rudebusch and Charles Thompson; her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Weber; and her son-in-law, Robert LaMotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lawrence School Endowment Fund would be appreciated.
