The life of Shirley Jean (Wilson) Kindt began on February 23, 1937, in Saint Paul, MN. She was born to parents: Henry and Neda (Gretillat) Wilson. In 1942, Shirley’s family relocated to San Diego, CA, where they resided for three years before moving to Iowa and living there for a year. Their final move was to a farm in Moody County, SD, where the family welcomed Shirley's younger sister, Darlene. After completing eighth grade, Shirley graduated from Jasper High School.
On November 27, 1954, Shirley was united in marriage with Glenn Kindt. They farmed in the Jasper, MN, area where they welcomed four children: Beth, Tom, Julee, and Paula.
Shirley and her family moved to Ortonville, MN, in 1971, where she established roots and became an integral part of the community. A dedicated office manager at Kindt Insurance Agency, she worked diligently for many years, exemplifying professionalism and commitment in her field.
Shirley's passion for music was a defining aspect of her life. She sang with the Lakeside Adeline Chorus for many years and enjoyed performing with a quartet. Her love for singing extended to her cherished participation in the church choir. She found solace and inspiration in her Bible study group and treasured the time spent in her small, weekly prayer group.
An ardent lover of the outdoors, Shirley found joy on the golf course and embraced every opportunity to travel, both within the United States and internationally. Her spirit of adventure was matched only by her fondness for companionship, as evidenced by her delightful monthly gatherings with the Red Hats.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children: Beth (Myron) Mueller of Ortonville, MN; Tom Kindt (Becky Redepenning Gloege) of Ortonville, MN; Julee Kindt of Delavan, MN; and Paula (John) Stoker of Brooklyn Park, MN; nine grandchildren: Zachary (Joanna) Kindt and Lindsey (John) Beinert, and their mother, Bonnie Kindt; Nathan Mueller, Hilary Mueller, Melissa Bartels, Rachel Streit, Shane (Sarah) Streit, Matthew Streit, and Benjamin Stoker; eight great-grandchildren: Morgan, Tanner, Kasey, Kiera, Adriana, Glenn, Gus, and Hazel; and sister, Darlene Steen.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Glenn in 1994; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Shirley’s name be made to Mound Cemetery, Living Word Lutheran Church Mission Trip Fund, or Big Stone County Cancer Support Group.
