Ruth Murphy

Ruth Murphy, age 99, a lifelong resident of the Graceville, MN area, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Grace Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father David Breu celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of Mass at the church on Monday.

Ruth A. Murphy was born on June 15, 1915 in Graceville, MN to Adolph and Lillie (Skoog) Larson. She attended and graduated from Graceville High School with the class of 1934. Following high school, Ruth was united in marriage to Leonard (Mike) Murphy in 1935. They raised their family and farmed in Leonardsville Township until 1989 when they moved to Graceville.

Ruth was an active member of St. Patricks's Catholic Church in Collis, MN. She loved visiting with friends and family, was always up for a good game of cards or cribbage, and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. A great cook, Ruth especially enjoyed baking pies. She always kept the teakettle hot for a cup of coffee or tea and made sure to have "a little something" to go along with it.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Bill (Peggy) Murphy of Buffalo, MN; Sharon Vold of Dumont, MN; Gail (Don) Kehoe of Hermantown, MN; daughter-in-law, Donna Murphy of Saginaw, MN; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Don Conroy; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; son, Jerry Murphy; son-in-law, Kenny Vold; daughter-in-law, Ione Murphy; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Verna Larson; grandsons, Randy and Terry Murphy; and granddaughter, Maureen Vold.
