Ruth Forman

Funeral services for former Milbank, SD, resident, Mrs. Ruth (Lupinek) Forman, age 83, of Ft. Pierre, SD, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2006, at the American Lutheran Church in Milbank. The Reverend Janine Rew-Werling will officiate. Ruth died on Sunday, January 22, 2006, at her daughter's home in Safford, AZ. Family members are asked to meet in the church chapel by 10:00 a.m. Friday to attend services. The organist will be Carol Ydstie and the soloist will be Ray Ogdahl. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Lane Lindquist, Ron Anderson, Chuck Myklegard, Gerald Thaden, Harold Thaden, and Sid Fosheim. Burial will be in the Osceola No. 1 Cemetery at Marvin, SD.
Funeral services will also be held at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Pierre, SD, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2006. Pastor Paul Bly will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday one hour before services. Pallbearers in Pierre will be Reed Holwegner, Bob Mills, Jerry Tibbs, Gene Ibach, Ron Catlin, and Bill Allison.
Ruth was born on February 17, 1922, to Anton J. and Olga E. (Zemlicka) Lupinek, at their farm home near Twin Brooks, SD. She attended Twin Brooks No. 4 West rural school. Ruth graduated from Milbank High School in 1939. She began work as a bookkeeper at Mittelstaedt's Dept. Store in Milbank during the latter part of her senior year.
On May 29, 1940, she married Clarence "Boyce" Forman at Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following marriage they lived on the McKenna farm south of Wilmot. Ruth continued to work at Mittelstaedt's for a short time. In the fall 1945 they purchased a farm in Kilborn Township. In April 1979 they moved to Milbank. Ruth was employed at the Ben Franklin Store in the Milbank Mall from 1975-1984.
Ruth was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Marvin, SD, until their move to Milbank. She held various offices in the women's organization and taught Sunday school for approximately thirty years. Ruth taught the Bethel Bible Series at the Wilmot Lutheran Church for two years.
As a member of the American Lutheran Church in Milbank, she was active in circles and served on the executive board of ALCW and WELCA. Ruth was an active participant in Lutheran World Relief projects especially the quilting groups and was a volunteer at the Community Thrift Store in Milbank.
As a teenager she was a 4-H member and later a 4-H leader. Ruth was a member of the Busy Neighbor's Extension Club and also served on the Grant County Extension Board.
Her husband died on September 25, 1988. Ruth moved to Ft. Pierre, SD, in August 1997. She joined Resurrection Lutheran Church in Pierre on July 12, 1998. Ruth was active in their WELCA, circle, and Shepherding groups. She was a faithful quilter each Wednesday at Memorial Church working for Lutheran World Relief. Ruth enjoyed the 60+ group at Memorial Church and was a member of the Ft. Pierre Senior Citizens and served on their board.
Survivors include four children: Clarence "Clancy" Forman and wife Cookie, Carrollton, VA; Susan K. Forman Bonefas and husband John, Safford, AZ; Nick A. Forman and wife Molly, San Antonio, Texas; and John C. Forman and wife Brenda, Pierre, SD; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Lupinek, Oildale, CA; a sister, Evelyn Forman, Cass Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Kenneth in 1963; three brothers, and one sister.
