Ronald A. Lundborg

Ronald Lundborg, age 80 of Milbank, SD, passed away on November 13, 2022, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Tim Rynearson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Ronald Alan Lundborg was born on December 28, 1941, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Roy and Marian (Christianson) Lundborg. Ron grew up in the Revillo, SD, area. He graduated from Revillo High School. Ron proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to South Dakota. He was united in marriage with Shirley Mae Scheef on June 7, 1969, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Together, they lived in Minneapolis, MN, for a short time and then in Astoria, SD, where Ron worked as a school teacher, and Shirley worked as the school secretary. They moved to Milbank in 1973.

Ron was a talented carpenter. He worked for Loren Ebsen and his father-in-law, Joe Scheef. He worked many years on his own and was proud of the projects he worked on.

He adored his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He always had a bag of M&M’s to share with them. He was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday School and confirmation classes. He enjoyed hunting, and most importantly, loved spending time with his family. Shirley passed away on February 25, 2020.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister and brother-in-law: Ina and Larry Hennings of Revillo, SD; nieces: Kristin Danielson of Mason City, IA; Stacy Hennings of Big Stone City, SD; nephews: Michael (Traci) Knight of Box Elder, SD; Garrett (Michelle) Hennings of Revillo, SD; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Marian; wife, Shirley; nephews: Stanley Schaefer and Steven Schaefer.
