Roland Albert Ebnet, along with his twin brother, Ronald, was born in Marshall, MN, on March 4, 1951, to Raymond and Josephine (Suess) Ebnet. He grew up on a farm by Vesta, MN, and attended school in Milroy, MN, until fourth grade. His family then moved to a farmstead near Clinton, MN, where they lived for a couple of years and attended school. After that, they moved to a farm near Benson, MN, where his parents and 12 siblings resided for the remainder of his childhood. Roland spent many years learning and helping on the farm.

Throughout his years, Roland became a master of many things. He worked as a carpenter, mechanic, and maintenance contractor. Along with that, he always kept his favorite side job of being the best bike repair shop in the area. He could fix or build just about anything.

The greatest thing Roland ever built was his family. On April 3, 1981, Roland was united in marriage with the love of his life, Karen Ballhagen. Together, they settled in Clinton, MN, and brought five precious children into this world: Adam, Alan, Andy, Kelly, and Anthony. Roland’s children were his pride and joy. He was always there for them, supporting them, loving them, and teaching them: from working on bikes in the “bike shop” to teaching them how to cook. He taught his family that some of the greatest work you will ever do is with your hands. Between working and raising a family, he always made sure to make time for his favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing. He enjoyed doing these alongside his wife and kids.

The greatest title he received after dad was Papa. He wore that with pride, loving each of his grandchildren just as they are. From rocking them as babies to watching them grow, he always did it with a smile on his face and a glisten in his eyes.

Roland was truly a one-of-a-kind man. He believed a good meal could solve more problems than people realized, that a conversation was the best form of connection, and that everything was worth fixing. His legacy will live on in those he loved. Roland will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Roland is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen (Ballhagen) Ebnet of Clinton, MN; son, Adam Ebnet of Clinton, MN; son, Alan (Amanda) Ebnet of Ortonville, MN; daughter, Kelly (Jeremy) Arndt of Clinton, MN; son, Anthony Ebnet of St. Paul, MN; daughter, Kristina Diamond; and daughter, Katrina Ellingson; 13 grandchildren: Jasmine Cloos, Summer Ebnet, Macey Ebnet, Aubrey Ebnet, Isaac Ebnet, Camdyn Ebnet, Abby Ebnet, Bentyn Ebnet, Eayn Ebnet, Austin Moen, Makenna Arndt, Landen Arndt, and Carter Arndt; three great-grandchildren: Hayden Weber, Aspen Weber, and Oliver Vela; siblings: Raymond Ebnet, Pat Hawkenson-Cordell, Joan (Lynn) Brown, Germaine (Toots) Brandt, Judy Wrobleski, Robert (Marcia) Ebnet, Richard (Lyn) Ebnet, Linda (Jerry) Wulf, Jane (Mick) Howard, Susan (Linden) Riech, and Roger Ebnet; and many nephews and nieces.

Roland was preceded in death by his son, Andy Ray Ebnet; twin brother, Ronald Ebnet; and parents, Raymond and Josephine Ebnet.

“We know there was a beautiful reunion when Roland arrived in heaven.”
