Roger Dean Goosen was born on April 9, 1943, in Marion, SD, to David and Gladys (Buller) Goosen. At the tender age of two, he moved with his family to Savage, MT, where he spent his formative years. Roger attended grade school at a local country school and graduated from Lambert High School with the Class of 1961. He pursued further education, earning an associate's degree, which reflected his dedication to learning and personal growth.

On October 8, 1995, Roger found love and companionship when he married Valorie "Sue" Blocker at Parkview Methodist Church in Milbank, where they had met while singing in the church choir. Their shared passion for music brought them together, leading to a beautiful partnership filled with love and harmony.

In 1968, Roger began a fulfilling career as an office machine repairman at Theirud Office Supply in Sidney, MT, a role he held until 1978. Following this, he moved to the Ortonville and Odessa areas in Minnesota before finally settling in Milbank, SD, in 1979. Roger continued his work in the mechanical industry at Valley Office Supply from 1978 to 1990. Even after retiring, he remained industrious, engaging in various jobs that kept him active and fulfilled.

Roger was a devoted member of Big Stone Tabor Church in Big Stone City, SD, where he actively participated in choir and used his musical talents to play the organ and piano at various local churches. He also delighted in the company of the barber shop chorus, The Milltones. In addition to his musical pursuits, Roger had a profound affection for gardening and cherished moments spent with family, attending reunions and Chautauqua concerts with Sue, and creating wonderful memories with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Sue Goosen of Milbank, SD; daughters: Michelle Koop of East Helena, MT; and Penny (Ben) Woelber of Brandon, SD; step-daughters: Shannon (Jim) Fish of Aberdeen, SD; and Kerrie (Justin) Meyer of Madison, SD; 10 grandchildren: Allyson, Ashley, Nathan, Evelyn, Emilee, Claire, Izzie, Joey, Jack, and Auna; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Patty (Willie) Yoder of Billings, MT; Vonna (Larry) Brown of Denver, CO; Charlotte Buller of Lincoln, NE; and Laura Miller of Homer, AK; along with several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Lee Goosen; and brother-in-law, Ron Buller.
