Richard F. Smith, age77, of Ortonville, Mn died Friday, November 8, 2013.

Funeral service for Richard F. Smith will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, MN with a one hour visitation prior to the service.

Richard F. Smith, the son of Eunice Smith, was born March 25, 1936, in Watertown, SD. He was baptized and confirmed in Ortonville, MN. He grew up in Milbank, where he graduated high school in 1954. After graduation, Richard worked in the oil fields of Montana before serving in the Army where he was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. After his discharge, he attended college in Marshall, MN.

Richard was united in marriage to Mary Roggenbuck in 1961 in Ortonville, where they lived for 8 years and owned and operated the Phillips 66 station. They then lived in Canby, MN, Vermillion, SD, and Fremont, NE before moving back to Ortonville in 2002. Richard owned a Sears Roebuck catalog store for 25 years before retiring in 1998.

Richard enjoyed gardening, sports, fishing, hunting, collecting antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends. He passed away on November 8, 2013. He is survived by his wife (Mary); three sons (Rick, Kelly, and Christopher); three brothers (Larry, Gerald, and Brian Longhenry); three grandchildren (Rick, Kelsey, and Jasper); and many other family and friends. He will be missed.
