Richard "Dick" Lounsbery, 80, of Milbank, SD, and formerly of Revillo, SD, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Peaceful Pines in Milbank.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Revillo Community Center. Private inurnment will take place at the Revillo Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and desserts at the Revillo Community Center until 4:00 p.m.
Richard Charles Lounsbery was born on August 18, 1945, to Clifford and Evelyn (Hunt) Lounsbery in Watertown, SD. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Revillo, SD, and attended country school at Underwood District No. 37 through the eighth grade. He then attended Revillo High School, graduating in 1963. After that, he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, earning a bachelor's degree in Agronomy Science.
Richard returned to the family farm, where he worked alongside his brothers for the next 53 years, retiring in 2020. Farming was a lifelong dedication and passion for him.
Richard married Diane Limberg in 1965, and they were blessed with two daughters: Jill and Gina. He later married DaLinda "Linda" Peschong in 1991. They lived in Revillo and built a new home in 1994. After retirement, Richard and Linda enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends. They shared many adventures with Kevin and Dawn Dahlgren including fishing trips to Canada and travels to many other places. Linda passed away from cancer in August of 2022.
Richard is survived by his daughters: Jill (Scott) Gustafson of Boulder Creek, CA; Gina (Mike) Kontz of Dawson, MN; step children: Matthew (Megan) Lynde of Webster, SD; Andrea (Jeremy) Aagard of Byron, MN; beloved grandchildren: Zoey Gustafson, Ian Gustafson, Luke Kontz, Connor (Megan) Kontz, Alyvia Aagard, Jayce Aagard, Vaughn Lynde, Griffin Lynde, and Ellie Lynde; sisters: Carol Street, Rebecca Schiefelbein, and Susan Kontz; brothers: Mark Lounsbery and Alan Lounsbery; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Evelyn Lounsbery; and beloved wife, Linda (Peschong) Lounsbery.
