Richard Boran

d. April 7, 2018

Written by his daughter, Shannon:

Richard J. Boran, my dad, my hero and #1 son of William “Bud” and Mary Jane (Weitzel) Boran, left this world peacefully with his partner of 33 years, Libby at his side on April 7, 2018.

Dad was a passionate hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Dad was also an amazing story teller. It seemed with every passing year the stories he told, the fish would get bigger! His whole

life was a series of adventures. He built houses, Gazebos, Decks, Bird Houses and even Target Stores! His attention to detail was impeccable! He was quick witted and wasted no time

making lifelong friends. He was always eager to help anybody with anything. No task was too hard for Dad. Not only could Dad help you but would teach you the “right way” to do it! Dad

taught others how to do it, so they would learn, as well as, get the work done. Dad was patient, kind, quick to forgive, and always encouraged others to do the same. Dad never

complained about being in pain towards the end of his life, my stubborn, Irish Marine Dad fought hard every day of his life.

He will be remembered for his love of gardening and his beautiful, well cared for garden, ability to grill anything, and enjoying a game or three of cribbage!

Dad, We’ll always remember your special smile, your caring heart and your warm embrace and of course the “Boran look”! The tradition of “checking the knee reflexes” will carry on with

your grandsons Tyler, Danny, Dennis and Logan. Those boys will always have wonderful memories of their grandpa and will know always in their hearts how proud you were of them!

Your spirit will be with us always, When we hear the doves and birds signing to us, When we see the big beautiful clouds in the sky, we will be reminded that you are free from pain. When we

see the lush green grass and flowers blooming, that is you reminding us to appreciate the simple things in life. Thank you for being an exceptional man, you will always be in

our minds and hearts. We promise to take very good care of your “puppies” Puddles and Kirby.

To carry on dads wishes, we will be having a Celebration of his life some time this summer, when the grass is green and the flowers blooming!

Thank you to the incredible Doctors and Nurses at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital, as well as the staff at the Watertown, SD VA clinic. To the helpful and caring Hospice team at Avera in

Milbank, SD. Thank you for taking the very best care of Dad.
