Rachel Ehlebracht

September 19, 1923 — October 16, 2017

Rachel Ehlebracht, age 94, of Big Stone City died on October 16, 2017, at Bethesda Home in Webster, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Abiding Faith Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Rev. Richard Larson will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Rachel Nelda (Dockter) Ehlebracht was born in Grant County, SD on September 19, 1923. She was the daughter of Chris and Kurnie (Reents) Dockter. Rachel grew up near Twin Brooks, SD and attended country school. She was united in marriage with Vincent Ehlebracht in 1945. They were blessed with seven children: Caroline, Gerald, Merle, Dianne, Rebecca, Adeline, and Joseph.
Rachel was a devoted homemaker and loving mother. She also worked in several medical facilities in Rapid City, SD, Watertown, SD, and in Ortonville. She worked in the housekeeping department and also did cleaning for several families. Throughout her life she lived in various places in both Minnesota and South Dakota, most recently living in Webster, SD.

Rachel enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Caroline Pope of Union, MO; Gerald (Yvonne) Ehlebracht of Brookings, SD; Merle (Marilyn) Ehlebracht of Queen Vallley, AZ; Dianne (John) Green of Frederick, CO; Adeline (Charles) Mork of Bellingham, MN; and Joseph Ehlebracht of Webster, SD; son-in-law, Kent Holler of Pierpont, SD; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Betty Dockter of Perham, MN; Dorothy Ehlebracht of Little Rock, AR; and Vera Ehlebracht of Milbank, SD.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents: Chris and Kurnie Dockter; husband, Vincent Ehlebracht; daughter, Rebecca Holler; son-in-law, Robert Pope; three grandsons: Wayne Pope, Michael Snaza, and Andrew Snaza; three brothers: Alvin Dockter, Reuben Dockter, and Donnie Dockter; one sister, Elsa Smit.
