Patricia Trapp

December 8, 1934 — January 4, 2025

Rapid City, SD, formerly of Milbank, SD, and Vermillion, SD

Patricia Trapp, age 90, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Milbank, SD, and Vermillion, SD, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at Peaceful Pines Memory Care in Rapid City, SD.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February, 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Patricia will be laid to rest next to her husband and son in the Milbank Cemetery.

Patricia Carol (Kosse) Trapp was born on December 8, 1934, in Milbank, SD, to Peter and Lillian (Scoblic) Kosse. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank and attended Catholic elementary school before graduating from Milbank High School in 1952.

On February 19, 1955, Patricia was united in marriage with Curtis Dale Trapp. Together, they had two children: Steven Lyle Trapp and Brenda Lee Trapp. The family lived in Corona, SD, until 1962. They later moved to Vermillion, SD, where Pat worked as a bookkeeper for Central Natural Gas. After her children were grown and gone, Curtis and Patricia moved back to Milbank where they built their home on Big Stone Lake. In 2018, Patricia moved to Rapid City to be closer to her grandchildren who she adored.

Pat possessed a sharp intellect and a love for intellectual challenges, particularly enjoying crossword puzzles and Sudoku. These activities not only provided her with joy but also showcased her remarkable wit and determination. Her greatest joy came from her five granddaughters. Pat was the ultimate “Gram” to all of them and they will miss her every day. She celebrated her 90th birthday in December of 2024 and was able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas Eve celebration with her family while the great-grandchildren entertained the Memory Care residents with several Christmas carols.

Grateful for having shared Patricia’s life are her daughter, Brenda (Jim) Sorensen of Rapid City, SD; her five granddaughters: Kristin (Doug) Neil of Bozeman, MT; Mallory (John) McCollister of Sioux Falls, SD; Brianne (Erick) Sykora of Rapid City, SD; Amanda (Jake) Perrion of Sioux Falls, SD; and Jenna (Konstantin) Posherstnik of Rapid City, SD. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Drew and Avery Neil; Brady and Lucas McCollister; Ben, Sadie, and Daniel Sykora; Madelyn and Lillian Perrion; and Koby and Ethan Posherstnik; sister-in-law, Karen Trapp of Aberdeen, SD; daughter-in-law, Sheree (Ira) Frericks of Sioux Falls, SD; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis in 2006; her son, Steven in 1994; parents; four brothers; and eight sisters.
