Neil Murray Sitter, age 61 of Willmar, MN passed away November 21, 2013. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 1:00 p.m.at Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville, MN.
Neil was born on May 10, 1952 in Ortonville, MN, to the late Clyde and Lucille Sitter. The youngest of three children, Neil received his early education at the Ortonville Public School. In 1972 he moved to Willmar, MN where he resided independently or in group homes under the supervision of The Presbyterian Family Foundation. West Central Industries of Willmar was his vocational provider through June 2013.
Even though Neil lived in Willmar for many years he always considered Ortonville as his home. He looked forward to coming home for the fall homecoming games. He didn't care about the football game but loved visiting with friends on the sidelines.
Within the Willmar community Neil enjoyed a variety of activities that included bowling, dancing, shopping and eating in local restaurants. He highly valued weekly worship, Bible studies, and family gatherings. Over the years the Special Olympics program provided Neil with direction, exercise, and the reward of receiving ribbons for having worked so diligently. Ribbons for winning were prized possessions.
Neil was on top of the world when family gathered for holidays, birthdays, and other celebrations. Neil's hugs and smiles showed all of us the joy of family. Neil was very caring about others, yet the care he received from devoted caregivers at his house was family away-from-home for him.
Neil's spirit will continue to live in the hearts of his family and the many who loved him. Left to cherish his memory are a brother Gayle (Diane) of Billings, MT and sister-in-law Phyllis Sitter of Spencer, Iowa, and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Preceding Neil in death were his parents, Clyde and Lucille Sitter and his older brother Gary Sitter.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lucille McEwen Sitter Memorial fund at Minnwest Bank in Ortonville.
