Neal Homan, age 66, of Labolt, SD, died on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Milbank Area Hospital-Avera Health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, at American Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank and one hour prior to services on Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Milbank. Burial will be at the Milbank City Cemetery.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to gather for visitations and services. The use of face masks by attendees is recommended, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. Neal Cornelius Homan was born on August 30, 1954, in Ortonville, MN, to Cornelius “Nels” and Naomi (Mews) Homan. He attended school in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School in 1973. Neal attended Canby Vo-Tech and returned to work on the family farm near Labolt. He has been a farmer and rancher since then, mostly raising beef cattle. Neal also attended saddle and boot-making school in Belle Fourche, SD.
Neal was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member of American Lutheran Church in Milbank. He was a member of the Whetstone Valley Rodeo Club and the Western South Dakota Buckaroos; he looked forward to his “vacation” on the third Saturday of every September for the annual Buckaroos trail ride. Neal loved his horses and loved to rodeo. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, and barbecuing with his family.
Neal is survived by his wife, Deb, of Labolt; sons: Quint (Erin) Homan of Labolt, SD; and Clint Homan of Revillo, SD; grandchildren: Remi, Briggs, and baby Homan due in May; sister, Pauline (Carlos) Montoya of Seguin, TX; brothers: Bruce Homan of Sioux Falls, SD; and Tim (Pam) Homan of Hartford, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
