Mary Geier

Mary Geier, age 93, died June 11, 2018, at Granite View Neighborhood at Fairway View.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 11am at the United Methodist Church in Ortonville.  Visitation will be on Friday, June 15 from 5 to 7pm at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday.  Pastor Melanie Reiners will officiate and burial will be at Mound Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Geier was born on July 22, 1924, in Aurora, Illinois to Judson and Lena (Funke) Gamertsfelder.  She was raised in Naperville and graduated from Naperville High School in 1942. Mary attended North Central College in Naperville and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1946.

On June 14, 1947, Mary was united in marriage to Don Geier.  After Don graduated from North Central in 1948, they moved to his hometown of Ortonville.  Mary and Don were active members of the United Methodist Church.

Mary was a lifelong, diehard Chicago Cubs fan.  She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and golfing.  Mary liked to garden and grew great tasting tomatoes.  Mary had a great sense of humor and was a fabulous cook.

She is survived by her son, Peter (Jane) Geier of Minneapolis, MN and daughter, Nancy Geier of Plymouth, MN; sister-in-law, Muriel Geier of Ortonville, MN; and nephews: Herb (Mary) Fritz of Durham, NC, Ken (Barb) Fritz of St. Louis, MO, and Greg (Sue) Fritz of Madison, WI.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 1995; her parents; sister, Marge Fritz; brothers-in-law, Harry Fritz and James Geier; and nephew, James Geier, Jr.
