Marlys Adolphson, age 90, of Ortonville, died June 27, 2018, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2pm at Abiding Faith Free Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church and interment will be in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.
Marlys (Witte) Adolphson was born on August 12, 1927, in Bellingham, MN, to Arthur and Clara (Milbrandt) Witte. She attended school in Bellingham and graduated in 1945. Marlys went to work at a coffee shop in Clinton, MN where she met Stanley Adolphson.
On September 10, 1948, Marlys was united in marriage to Stanley at the Bellingham E.U.B. Church. Together, the couple had two children: Jackie and Pat. Marlys was a homemaker until her girls were older, then she went to work at Pioneer Meat Market.
Marlys was a charter member of the Abiding Faith Free Lutheran Church in Ortonville and the VFW Auxiliary. She was talented and liked to show off her talents by doing embroidery and painting on dish towels. Marlys especially loved to spend time at the cabin on Big Stone Lake in the summer. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious potato salad.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, Stanley; daughters, Jackie (David) Meyer of Big Stone City, SD and Pat (Glen) Danielson of Ortonville, MN; 5 grandchildren: Marissa Meyer, Randy (Alyssa) Meyer, Chad (Jenn) Danielson, Ryan (Julie) Danielson, and Dana (John) Novak; 5 great-grandchildren: Amy, Drew, Bethany, Connor, and Imogen; 3 step-great-grandchildren: Bryan, John, and Caleb; sister, LaVerne Magnuson of Minneapolis, MN; and sister-in-law, Val Witte of Ohio.
Preceding her in death are her parents and siblings: Ray Witte, Calvin Witte, Robert Witte, and Verla Thomas.
