Marlene Eastman

Marlene Eastman, 86, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Fairway View in Ortonville.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, MN.

Marlene Diane Eastman was born on November 11, 1939, in Bushnell, SD, to Louis and Flora (Smith) Stuefen. She was raised in White, SD, where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1957.

On August 29, 1959, Marlene was united in marriage with Dean Eastman in Hendricks, MN. Together, they made their home in Ortonville, MN, where they were blessed with six children: Kevin, Kim, Randy, Rodney, Kurt, and Doug.

Marlene worked at Northridge Nursing Home for 28 years. After retirement, she and Dean enjoyed spending 14 winters in McAllen, TX. In January of 2021, Dean passed away, and Marlene continued to make her home in Ortonville.

Marlene enjoyed reading and doing word searches. She also loved playing cards, making Swedish weave blankets, listening to old-time country music, and watching Judge Judy. She treasured time spent with family and the simple joys of everyday life. Marlene will be remembered for the warmth and love she shared with those around her.

Marlene is survived by her three sons: Kevin Eastman of Ortonville, MN; Kurt (Kari) Eastman of Ortonville, MN; and Doug (Heather) Eastman of Odessa, MN; one daughter, Kim (Dennis) Wittrock of Milbank, SD; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Doreen Barth of Brookings, SD; Verna Ruttom of Rapid City, SD; and Marlys Nelson of Roseville, MN; brother, Larry (Jeannie) Stuefen of White, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Flora Stuefen; her beloved husband, Dean; two sons in infancy: Randy and Rodney; and grandson, Lee Wittrock.
