Lois Sherod

Lois E. Sherod, age 93, of Odessa, died on April 11, 2019, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa.  Pastor Thaine Kister will officiate.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lois Elaine Hanson was born on February 15, 1926, in Louisburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Eddie and Rhoda (Winger) Hanson. She graduated from Odessa High School. Lois married Orville Youatt Sherod on October 12, 1947, at Eidskog Lutheran Church. They were blessed with eight children. They made their home and raised their children in rural Ortonville.  Orville and Lois moved to Odessa in 1966 and remained there until 2015.

Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She and Orville both loved to read. Lois made many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to dance, and even knew how to tap dance.

Survivors include her children: Lee Sherod of East Grand Forks, MN; David (Lynn) Sherod of New London, MN; Beverly (Kenneth) Cleveland of Oak Harbor, WA; Darrell (Tanja) Sherod of Ortonville, MN; Marlene Sherod of Odessa, MN; Patty (Derek Nelson) Sherod of Alexandria, MN; Robert (Lori) Sherod of Odessa, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Orville; son, Michael Sherod; brothers: Glen Hanson, and Orton Hanson.
