December 31, 1969 — November 20, 2014

Funeral services for Lee Mathison, age 44, of Ortonville, Minnesota will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Minnesota on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, beginning at 11 a.m.

Lee Roy Mathison was born December 31, 1969, in Graceville, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy and Kathy (Weinman) Mathison. He spent his growing-up years in both Clinton and Elk River, Minnesota. In 1987, Lee graduated from Elk River Senior High. He went on to complete the sales and marketing program at Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech. Lee began his working career in retail, but quickly moved into being a ballroom dance instructor for Fred Astaire Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Lincoln, Nebraska; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and finally owned his own dance studio in Wichita, Kansas. When dancing became too much for his feet, Lee completed a cosmetology program in Wichita, Kansas, becoming a licensed hair dresser. Always striving to be the best, he reached the level of artistic director for Regis Corporation, instructing other employees at salons across the nation. In 2012, Lee acquired the local barber shop in Ortonville, Minnesota which he remodeled and named The Hair Mechanic.

Lee possessed a multitude of expansive talent. From a champion ballroom dancer to a nationally recognized hair dresser to the guy changing the motor in his old Lincoln Continental in a vacant parking lot, Lee had it covered. It wasn't that there wasn't anything he couldn't do, but there certainly wasn't anything he wouldn't try!

Lee died on November 20, 2014, in Ortonville, Minnesota having reached the age of 44. He will be missed by many.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy Mathison and Kathy Mathison, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his brother John and his niece Makayla of Beardsley, MN; his sister Danille of Medina, MN; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.
