Lawrence Beier

Funeral services for Lawrence Henry Beier will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at United Methodist Church in Beardsley, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Reverend Anna Williamson will officiate. Burial will be at the Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, MN at a later date.

Lawrence Beier was born on November 22, 1914, to parents Richard and Carrie (Hoffmockel) Beier in Rogers, MN. When Lawrence was nine years old his family moved to Beardsley, Minnesota. He attended school in Beardsley and helped his father in the meat market. Larry was united in marriage to Genevieve Lucas on September 30, 1935 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Beardsley with Pastor Englehardt officiating. They made their first home in Beardsley.

Larry and Gen moved to Blackduck, Minnesota in 1949 where he opened Beier's Meat Service. In 1965 they moved to Aurora, Colorado. In 1977, upon retirement, they returned to Beardsley.

Larry served as the mayor of Beardsley from 1980 – 1982. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

Larry passed away on June 24, 2013, in Fargo, North Dakota having reached the age of 98 years.

Lawrence Beier is survived by his children: Dale (Karen) Beier of Brighton, CO; Eileen (Richard) Figenser of Bennett, CO; and Sandra (Corky) Workman of Rice, MN; his son-in-law Cloyd Kilde; 14 grandchildren, 21great grand children and 5 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 77 years Genevieve; his siblings: Lila, Violet, Beatrice, and Melvin; his son, Richard; his daughter, Sharron Kilde; and his granddaughter, Mia Beier-Zima.
