Laurie Kurth

Funeral Services for Laurie will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM at the funeral Home. Intern Pastor David Tonn will be officiating and JuliAnne French will be providing music. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery.

Laurie Jean Kurth was born on July 18, 1955, to parents Marvin H. and Enid L. (Pederson) Kurth in Marshall, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. Laurie attended school in Ortonville, graduating with the Ortonville Class of 1973.

After graduation, Laurie worked as a cook and waitress at several restaurants in the area. She also worked as a secretary and 'jack-of-all-trades' at the Graceville Lumber Yard. In 1992, she enrolled into college at the U of M in Morris where she earned her BA degree in English. Laurie also worked as a dietician at the Golden Living Center in Milbank and at the Appleton Prison. She left this job just before the doors closed, but the prison is where she met her two best friends, her cats: Shadow and Tigger.

Laurie had a love for singing and was very proud of her voice. She even sang at the Matador and would occasionally accompany herself with the guitar! Laurie enjoyed crafting, especially beadwork. She would also crochet and did many scarves and hats for the Angel Tree Project.

Laurie passed away on February 15, 2013, at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN. She had lived to reach the age of 57 years.

Laurie is survived by her siblings: Beverly (Jerry) Zajic of Forest Lake, MN, Duane (Cheryl) Kurth of Sun City, AZ and Linda (Arnold) Souba of Eau Claire, WI; nephews and nieces: Mark, Troy, Tony, Rick, Wendy and Joel; and great nieces and great nephews.

Laurie is preceded in death by her parents.
