John Rothi, age 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 12, 2021, in Elk River, MN.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Ortonville with Rev. Melanie Reiners and Rev. Barb McKewin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, followed by burial with military honors at Mound Cemetery.
Laurence John Rothi was born on the family farm, east of Ortonville, MN, on September 4, 1933. He was the son of Laurence and Agnes (Lundberg) Rothi. John graduated from Ortonville High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served and traveled the world. Following his honorary discharge John returned to Ortonville, where he met and married the love of his life, Anna Gibson on October 20, 1956. They were blessed with five children: Curtis, Lori, Vicky, Patty, and Harold.
John retired from Ottertail Power Company where he was a certified welder machinist mechanic. His last few working years were spent as a warehouse manager. He and Anna both retired on November 30, 1995. He will be remembered for his grateful heart, warm smile, and his deep love for God, his family, and many dear friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Curtis (Linda) Rothi of Anoka, MN; Lori (Steve) Coady of Zion, IL; Vicky (Dave) Sager of Dassel, MN; Patty (Scott) Anderson of Lakeville, MN; and Harold (Kimberle) Rothi of Elk River, MN; eight grandchildren: Jessica Rothi, Autumn Coady, Emily Coady, Nick (Bailey) Sager, Marshall (Jenny) Sager, Kayla (Parker) Dahlgren, Brooke Anderson, and Wesley Rothi; five great-grandchildren: Aubrianna Sager, Jocelyn Sager, Charles Dahlgren, Annalena Dahlgren, and Royce Rothi; sister, Nola Lockwood of Ortonville, MN; and brother, Jerry (Marie) Rothi of Canby, OR.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Laurence and Agnes; his wife, Anna on November 19, 2018; brother, Robert Rothi; and sister, Ann Helgeson.
