John Fridgen

John Fridgen, age 81, resident of Ortonville, MN, died on May 28, 2019, at Fairway View Assisted Living in Ortonville, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Father Brian Oestreich will celebrate the Mass, and burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

John Fridgen was born on January 8, 1938, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Peter and Helen (Lentz) Fridgen. He was united in marriage with Rose Marie Hagen on July 16, 1960, in Aberdeen, SD. The couple made their home in Ortonville, MN. To this union, three daughters were born: Lynn, Julie, and Mary. John loved his time spent with family and enjoyed going on “toodles” with Rose Marie.

John was a member of the National Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and playing cards. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Gophers. He spent time working in his yard, and he loved to share the bounty of his garden.

John is survived by his children: Lynn (Jerry) Zeiger of Clyde, MO; Julie (Tony) Croatt of Rochester, MN; and Mary (Mike) Stuart of Sosua, Dominican Republic; grandchildren: Matthew (Chelsey) Wipf, Daniel Wipf, and Nathan Croatt; great-grandchildren: Delilha and Haylee Wipf; sister, Frances Fridgen; brother, Peter Fridgen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie; parents: Peter and Helen; three sisters; and two brothers.
