Jessie Faye Moody

May 5, 1928 — December 1, 2022

Ortonville, MN

Jessie Faye Moody, age 94, of Sunnyside, WA, was called home by our Heavenly Father on December 1, 2022, at Fairway View Senior Residence in Ortonville, MN.

Funeral services will be held at a later time. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairway View Neighborhoods for the excellent care they gave to Jessie.

Jessie Faye was born on May 5, 1928, in Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Houston and Albie (Lucy) Galloway. She had two sisters: Ruby Edna Richardson and Ethel May Metheny.

Jessie met Carl Moody in Calico Rock, Arkansas, and was soon after married on July 14, 1948. They were blessed with two daughters: Carla Sue and Deborah Jean. Jessie was very proud of her two girls. She would often tell people that her oldest daughter, Carl Sue was a retired teacher of 37 years and her youngest had given her three beloved grandchildren: Jason Ray, Carl Wallace, and Mittie Ann.

Jessie had many interests and hobbies during her life. She gardened with her husband, she was a talented seamstress, she did ceramics and was a talented artist and painter. She especially enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for the entire family. Jessie and Carl did a lot of catfishing.  A treasured memory is when their grandson, Carl Wallace, went fishing with them. Carl Wallace caught a big catfish that he was very proud of. Upon returning home, Jessie fried his catfish. When he saw his fish he cried “Oh Mawmaw, you killed my fish!”

Jessie and her sisters were vivid story tellers. Her girls loved hearing stories of them growing up during the depression and all the mischief that Jessie Faye and Ethel May got into while Ruby Edna tried to keep them out of trouble!

Jessie received her GED in August of 1961 and received her cosmetology certificate in 1964. She went on to operated her beauty shop for seven years.

Jessie was an active member of the First Baptist Church during the time she lived in Sunnyside, WA. She walked in faith during her days on earth and believed we didn’t need to understand our sorrows, just to thank God every day. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She never knew a person she didn’t call friend.

Jessie is survived by her two daughters: Carl Sue and husband Karl E. Rasmussen of Ortonville, MN; and Deborah Jean and husband Bill High of White Pigeon, MI; three grandchildren: Jason (Laura) High and children: Cian and Brodric; Carl Wallace (Kristy) High and children: Claudia, Kate and Conleigh; Mittie (Bill) and children: Carley and Abby; sister, Ethel May Metheny of Grandview, WA.

Blessed be her memory.
